Job Description

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring raw materials, components, and supplies required for manufacturing operations. This role ensures timely delivery of quality materials at competitive prices while maintaining strong vendor relationships and supporting production schedules.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Source and purchase raw materials, components, and equipment for manufacturing operations.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable conditions.
  • Analyze inventory levels and production requirements to maintain optimal stock without over-purchasing.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure purchased materials meet specifications.
  • Monitor supplier performance, resolve delivery or quality issues, and maintain accurate purchasing records.
  • Prepare purchase orders, track shipments, and ensure timely delivery to meet production deadlines.
  • Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and evaluate cost trends.
  • Assist in budgeting and cost analysis for procurement activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years as a Buyer or Purchasing Agent in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and supply chain management.
  • Skills:
    • Negotiation and vendor management
    • ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office proficiency
    • Analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Education: Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cost efficiency.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and inventory control.
